Gold Medal, Selections Mondials des Vins Canada (largest international wine show in North America)
The gorgeous 2013 American Oak Chardonnay was produced from fruit sourced from 3 outstanding vineyards located in the Niagara Peninsula, including the stellar home farm. Barriques showing distinct yet subtle American oak nuances while respecting the exceptional fruit qualities of the harvested grapes were selected for individual barrel fermentation. During a 10 month period, the wine remained on lees with battonage every few months, which lent a desirable complex richness to the palate. Hence, an 8 barrel blend was assembled followed by stabilization and filtration to bottling.
