Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Our Muselet Traditional, a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, is classified as Brut but is rich in flavour. The wine is crisp, fruity and refreshing with toasty bread and brioche nots. The wine has a lovely round mouthfeel with fine bubbles (mousse) and good length, balanced by acidity. Notes of honey on the nose with delicate brioche aromas, green apple, lemon, pineapple and a touch of caramel and walnut. On the palate the wine is dry with good length and refined bubbles. Best serving temperature 6 tp 9 degrees.
Winemaker Notes
Strewn's inaugural sparkling wine produced in the method traditionelle from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir harvested at 21 degrees and 20.8 degrees brie respectively. The fruit was whole berry pressed, with the juice fermented at cooler temperatures to dryness with no induced malolactic fermentation. The base wine was then dosed with the liquor de triage and inoculated for a secondary fermentation in bottle. After lying down on lees for 24 months, it was riddled and disgorged, with a dosage to bring the residual sugar to 8.9 g/L prior to final corking.
Food Pairing Notes
A very diverse sparkling wine. The crisp bubbles balance the richness of dishes such as smoked salmon with creme fraiche and foods such as prosciutto, jamon, or charcuterie - where the saltiness of the food is cleansed by the wine's effervescence. This wine will pair well with cheese such as triple-cream Brie or Camembert, aged Parmesan or comte and goat cheese. Try also with truffle fries where salt, fat and the earthiness of the fries make a decadent but perfect pairing.
