2017 Terroir Chardonnay American Oak
A classic Chardonnay that has not yet reached its peak. Just starting to open up and we expect it will be late 2020 before the aromas and flavours will shine.
An oaky and muscular wine. Vibrant acidity balances very well with aromas and flavours of orange blossom, orange peel green apple, vanilla, cloves, spice, almond, walnuts, caramel, and butterscotch, producing a flavourful finish on the palate.
The starting point for all Terroir Chards is fruit from the Home Farm, harvested 30th October, 2017 at 26.4Bx. American oak barrels were sourced from two coopers with up to 10 different toasting profiles. The juice was fermented in oak using two specialized yeasts, then underwent malo-lactic fermentation. Matured in barrel for nine months before an eight-barrel selection (five new/one 1-year old/one 2-year old/one 5-year old) and blending, cold/heat stabilization and sterile filtration to bottling line. The bottles were laid down for 20 months before release. American: 8 barrel blend
Food Pairing Notes
Almond trout/ buttered grill fish with flaked almonds Butter and almonds reflect the nutty character in wine; try with mid-flavoured trout, which will not overwhelm the wine or buttered grilled fish where flavours from the grill complement the oak aspect of the wine.

Soooo delicious from start to finish. We drink a lot of vintages and we can definitely say this is by far, the no. 1 Chardonnay. A lot of tongue clicking and rolling to savour. Goes with our favourite seafood and all year round. Cannot say enough.
