The 2016 Terroir Merlot shows aromas of cherry, blackberry, and red plum with subtle nuances of rose and sweet baking spices. The opulent red-black fruit flavours are beautiful balanced, framed by fine tannins and natural acidity.
Produced from the acclaimed 2016 vintage, our 2016 Merlot Terroir, 100% harvested from the Home Farm at an outrageous 26.8o Bx, the juice was inoculated with specialty yeast and fermented in small open bins with daily pigéage, followed by malo-lactic fermentation. After a maturation period of 20 months, 10 barrels (80% French, 10% Canadian, 10% American) were blended, with retention of the opulent varietal flavours key to the assemblage, prior to racking and filtration to the bottle. An age worthy wine, the 2016 Merlot Terroir will further appeal to tasters seeking a bold drop with a firm tannic presence now.
