Cabernet Franc may be the celebrated red varietal of the Niagara Peninsula. The 2015 Terroir Cabernert Franc, an ultra-premium wine with all the grapes sourced from our Home Farm vineyard, delivers classic earthy and spicy notes. Drinking very nicely but will still benefit from decanting.
A balanced wine with aromas and flavours of blueberries, blackberries, licorice, spice, black tea, tobacco, black pepper and potpourri. They interact well with its acidity and earthiness making the wine smooth and flavourful at the finish.
Cabernet Franc grapes for this ultra-premium wine were harvested 100% from Strewn's outstanding Home Farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake at 24o Brix. Fermented with malo-lactic fermentation before maturation in American (62%) and Canadian (38%) oak barriques for 19 months. The 2015 Terroir Cabernet Franc is 8 barrel blend of equal parts new and old oak, and displays a desirable elegance while staying true to its vibrant self, and will age gracefully throughout the years to come.
Food Pairing Notes
Highlight the earthy notes and dry finish by matching with a well-marbled cut of beef, such as a rib-eye steak. Or a darker cut of chicken, turkey or duck will balance will resonate with the rich berry nose.
