Tasting Notes
Aromatic and Complex. A unique combination of aromas and flavours of lilies, honeysuckle, green apple, lime, grapefruit, orange peel, pineapple, white peach, apricot, lychee, kiwi, pear, melon, honey and clover. Vibrant acidity produces a long lingering finish. Silky texture and a little bit oily given to your palate a beautiful smooth sensation. Recommended Serving Temperatures 6°to 9°C
Winemaker Notes
I was challended to create a unique white blend, something totally different from any white wine Strewn has ever produced. My goal was a great, complex wine that delivered maximum enjoyment when you drink it. After considering all the possible components, I decided it would be Inox style (i.e. in stainless steel) rather than barrel influenced. Making the LIMITED Amalgam was truly done by trial and error. I made multiple sample blends and assessed each. If the proportion of one wine was too pronounced, I dialed it back on the next blend. If I felt one wine was just a passenger in the blend, I kicked it out. We had a small tank of Sauvignon Blanc that underwent a wild or more accurately spontaneous ferment from yeast already present in the winery. In the end I selected five aromatic varietals – Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc Wild Yeast. The LIMITED Amalgam has a lot going on but demonstrates Aristotle’s belief about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
