Retired Oak Barrels

Our winemakers use a barrel for anywhere between five and 10 years - newer barrels provide more characteristic oak flavouring to wine, older barrels allow wine to soften and mature. When a barrel has been retired from use in the cellar, it is emptied and cleaned before entering our inventory to be sold. Depending on the type of wood - American, Canadian or French, a new barrels costs between $700 and $1,300. We sell retired barrels in good condition for $100 plus HST.
Barrels require approximately 35 x 30 inches clearance through doors of the vehicle and/or height of a hatchback ceiling. To schedule a pick up (Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 5 pm/weekends 10 am to noon), email hospitality@strewnwinery.com. Barrels must be picked up within seven (7) days of purchase.
