2015 LIMITED Cabernets

Strewn only makes reserve red wines in years where the weather cooperates (hot, sunny and dry) and allows us to produce red wines with depth and intensity of flavour. Fortunately, 2015 was one of those stellar vintages. My inspiration for the LIMITED Cabernets was a Cabernets blend made more than a dozen years ago by founding winemaker Joe Will. And because of the preceding severe winter Merlot was in very short supply so I needed to use it sparingly.

Earthy and Spicy. With aromas and flavours of raspberries, strawberries, sweet and sour cherries, plums, vanilla, coffee, tobacco, spice, black pepper, black tea, menthol, smoke, and toasty oak. The vibrant acidity gives the wine a beautiful balance, producing a long finish with firm tannin. Recommended Serving Temperatures 16° to 19°C
The LIMITED Cabernets is an assemblage of one barrel each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes were hand-harvested late November from Strewn’s Home Farm vineyard and fermented in small batch open bins prior to oak maturation. After 19 months, I selected two barriques (both new American oak) which were blended then bottled unfiltered to retain the richness of the wine. This wine will continue to evolve in the bottle and will cellar for at least eight years. Marc Bradshaw, Winemaker
