About every two years, Strewn makes a limited amount of Icewine from red grapes and the 2013 vintage delivers beautiful flavour and texture. The juice was over 40 Brix when the grapes were pressed in early January 2014. A lovely rustic red hue and luscious palate displaying fabulous berry and dried fruit.
Bursting with notes of strawberry, cranberry and delicate floral nuances interwoven with hints of black pepper. These carry onto the luscious palate along with raspberry and dried fruit (peach and apricot). A brilliant acidic spine ensures a well-balanced finish.
Harvested in early January, 2014 at -11C, the fruit yielded juice over 40 Briix. Using a specialized yeast. the juice was slowly fermented over a two month period.
Food Pairing Notes
Perfect as a slightly chilled aperitif or as a dessert and pairs wonderfully with rich appetizers such as foie gras or rich cheeses.
A voluptous, richly-textured Niagara Icewine made from the Cabernet Franc grape. Notes of ripe strawberry and raspberry. Pair wit a fruit cobbler.
Cabernet Franc Icewine food pairings: strawberry rhubarb crisp, cheesecake, vanilla ice cream (with it or on it).
