Another hit-it-out-of-the-park Merlot made with wonderfully ripe grapes from a stellar vintage that will benefit from still more time in the bottle to open fully. Rich and full with supple tannins and a long, warm finish. Will cellar another six to eight years.
Bold and fruity with aromas and flavours of blackberries, black cherries, plums, leather, vanilla, dark chocolate, and mocha, which interplay on the palate producing a vibrant acidity, firm tannins and long finish. Best serving temperature 16-19C
Grown during the acclaimed 2012 vintage, the grapes for the 2012 Merlot Terroir were 100% harvested from the home farm vineyard at a premium yield of 2.9 tonne/acre with 25.3 Bx. A 13 barrel blend of primarily seasoned American (62%) and French (38%) oak barriques, the wine matured in barrels for a period of 19 months, prior to racking and minimum filtration to the bottle in an effort to retain the purity of the fruit. While an age worthy wine, the 2012 Merlot Terroir is drinking just brilliantly now.
