2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Clay Block

An equal quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were picked from the clay and sandy portion of Strewn`s Home Farm vineyard. They were fermented separately using the same yeast and aged in barrels from the same cooperage. Clay Block shows greatter minerality, bolder flavours and more complexity than Sandy Block.

Tasting Notes
A herbal and smooth wine with flavours and aromas of cassis, sweet cherries, vanilla, mocha, crushed rock, black tea and eucalyptus. The acidity and firm tannins produce a long, smooth finish on the palate. Best Serving Temperature 16° to 19° C.

Winemaker Notes
Produced from fruit harvested 23rd November, 2015 from the clay portion of the Line 1 Strewn Home Farm vineyard, at 25.3 Bx. After fermentation in small stainless steel bins with malo-lactic fermentation, the wines were pressed French, American and Canadian oak barrels for a period of 19 months. Four barrels for specially selected for blending with bottling was undertaken after pad filtration.

Purchased in mid 2018. Opened Feb 14. 2019 Very nice, smoky is how I would describe. Will be back for more.
