  1. Wine & Food Functions

    Group Winemaker's Dinners:
Experience an authentic "taste of Terroir" Winemaker's Dinner that matches Strewn's elegantly crafted wine with a menu based on local, seasonal ingredients. Depending on the size of the group and the time of the year, dinners can take place at several locations throughout the winery.

The working Barrel Cellar provides a unique location for 20 to 40 people; Terroir La Cachette, the restaurant at Strewn, is ideal for groups of up to 80 people, and larger groups (up to 150 people) can dine alfresco under the tent on the side lawn. Costs will vary with menu, wines, decor and rentals. Call for details.

    Dinner with the Winemaker:
This is the ultimate experience for wine & food aficionados! Up close and personal for a maximum of 13 people, Strewn winemaker Joe Will hosts dinner in the private dining room at the Wine Country Cooking School. He'll "talk wine" throughout the evening and explain the wine matches he has chosen to go with the menu. Cost is $250 per person. Taxes & gratuities are extra.

  2. Hands-on Winery & Culinary Experiences

"Winery Boot Camp - The Cellar Rat Program"
For anyone who has ever wanted to be part of a winemaking team! Become an honorary "cellar rat" for the day alongside Strewn's winemaking staff. Participants will be put to work and help in various aspects of winemaking. Lunch is included. Cost is $150 per person (based on a minimum of eight people and a maximum of 16 people).

"Winery Boot Camp - The Blending Challenge"
How would you handle the challenge of producing a wine to meet the criteria specified by the LCBO? This two-hour session allows participants to do just that! After an introduction by one of the winemaking team, the group will split into teams. You will be given the wine style criteria, a sample blend, the wines to work with, and the graduated cylinder. Each group will present its blend to the others for voting to choose the one that best met the challenge. Cost is $60 per person plus tax based on a minimum of 16 people.

"Live the Good Life: A Niagara Wine & Culinary Experience"
Perfect for large groups of up to 150 people, this half-day or daylong program combines a number of short (30 - 40 minute) hands-on activities throughout the winery and the cooking school. It's a fast-paced fun experience where participants are divided into sections that rotate through the experiences. Activities may include What's in the Nose, Design Your Own Wine Label, Strewn "Survivor Challenge", and a Taste of Niagara Appetizer. Cost will vary with size of group and number of activities/rotations and range from $65 to $120 per person plus tax.

Hands-on Appetizers Cooking Class & Elements of Taste Wine Seminar
Ideal for groups of between 26 and 50 people that want a more relaxed hands-on wine & culinary experience! The group is divided into two sections - one moves into the Wine Country Cooking School to prepare a selection of appetizers while the other goes into the classroom for an interactive wine education seminar. After an hour, everyone gets together for a private reception to enjoy the appetizers matched with Strewn wines. Cost of cooking class, seminar and reception for up to 50 people is $4,800 plus tax. Or have everyone rotate through both activities with two receptions to enjoy appetizers and wine for $5,800 plus tax (up to 50 people).

  3. Interactive Wine Education Seminars

These highly engaging and informative wine seminars are designed to increase knowledge through experience.

"Speak the Language of Wine" tests your skill identifying common wine aromas during a "blind sniffing" exercise, then you will go on to learn the basis and/or the subtleties of the Aroma Wheel before putting the leaning into practice tasting and describing four Strewn wines. Cost is $20 per person plus tax based on a minimum of 15 people.

"The Elements of Taste" is a sensory experience that will provide new understanding of the five "true" tastes and how they affect our perception of wine. Working from a miniature paint palate, participants will try examples of salt, sweet, sour, bitter and umami tastes and then match them with four Strewn wines. Cost is $25 per person plus tax based on a minimum of 15 people.

"Wine & Chocolate" seminar asks the question: which wine goes best with which style of premium chocolate! You'll be able to test and match chocolate from white to bitter dark, some plain and others with ingredients added. Cost is $25 per person plus tax based on a minimum of 15 people.

"Pairing Wine & Food" provides the perfect opportunity to explore some of the principles behind wine and food matching. You will learn why some wines and food combinations are made in heaven while others don't seem to click. Session includes the tasting of four Strewn wines with complimentary appetizers. Cost is $35 per person plus tax based on a minimum of 15 people.
